Guitar Trainer 2.0 for iPhone & iPad

See the pattern. Hear the note. Play the scale.

Sisco's Guitar Trainer AR turns fretboard theory into visual, physical practice. Learn movable scale patterns, then use live note practice to play them on a real guitar while the app listens, recognizes your pitch, and follows each stable correct note. Connect what you see, what you hear, and what your fingers do.

  • Live pitch recognition
  • Guided six-string tuner
  • All 12 chromatic keys
  • Higher-neck positions
  • Three-string isolation
  • iPhone & iPad

One connected practice system

From pattern recognition to real notes.

Train the five pentatonic positions and seven diatonic modes, find every root, connect patterns to harmonic function, practice guided or from memory, and move through lower and higher neck positions in any key. Whether you play blues, rock, metal, jazz, acoustic, or modern lead guitar, the goal is the same: stop memorizing isolated boxes and understand the neck as one connected instrument.

The biggest Guitar Trainer update yet

More ways to see, hear, and master the neck.

The latest release expands Guitar Trainer from visual pattern study into a complete live-practice system, with microphone-driven note matching, tuning, focused string work, deeper controls, and redesigned iPhone and iPad layouts.

01

Live note practice

Play the displayed scale on a real guitar. The app listens through the microphone, compares your pitch with the expected note, marks completed notes, and advances after a stable correct attack.

02

Integrated guitar tuner

Tune from low E through high E before practice, choose a string manually, wait for stable in-tune feedback, or skip directly into the exercise.

03

All keys. More of the neck.

Practice in all 12 chromatic keys and move between lower and higher neck positions with generated fret numbers and notes for the selected pattern.

04

Three-String Isolation

Break a full six-string pattern into three adjacent strings, move the focused window across the neck, and reconnect the smaller fragments into the complete scale.

05

Practice your way

Choose guided or blind recall, note names or finger numbers, ordered or varied paths, roots or arpeggios, loops, direction controls, and automatic advancement.

06

Built for iPhone & iPad

Adaptive portrait and landscape layouts, persistent settings, clearer feedback, improved navigation, refined AR fitting, and a polished Workbench-inspired interface.

Modes & Positions Trainer

Recognize the shapes behind modern guitar playing. Five pentatonic positions for blues, rock, and lead; seven diatonic modes for the tonal colors and moods that come with them — every shape movable across the neck.

Roots Trainer

Find the home note inside any pattern. Spotting the root fast is what lets the same shape play in any key — just slide it on the fretboard. Faster transposition, stronger improv instinct, real fretboard awareness.

Put Scales with Chords

Connect each pattern to the chord it naturally resolves over. Train ear and eye together to recognize where a shape belongs in a progression — not from theory drills, but from spotting the relationship in real music.

An instructor-like guitar learning experience

Get live feedback as you play in an instructor-like experience.

Practice with the kind of guidance you would expect from a guitar teacher. The app shows you where to place your finger, leads you through the scale one note at a time, and listens as you play on your real guitar. Every prompt connects the next finger movement to the complete pattern on the fretboard.

Play the note and receive immediate feedback. A correct pitch advances the lesson; an off-target note gives you the opportunity to adjust and try again. It is a responsive, instructor-like guitar learning experience that guides your fingers, hears your playing, and helps turn every scale into an accurate, repeatable performance.

  • Clear finger and fret placement for every note in the scale.
  • Live pitch checking while you play your physical guitar.
  • Immediate confirmation or correction before moving forward.
  • Visible progress that keeps the full scale pattern connected.

AR Finger Trainer

Train the finger memory behind every scale — even without a guitar in hand.

Scale fluency is physical. Your fingers must learn where to move, which string comes next, and how the entire sequence feels without pausing to think through every note. The AR Finger Trainer turns a scale shape into an interactive movement exercise, guiding finger and string placement while you rehearse the order of the pattern with your own hand.

Each focused repetition strengthens coordination, dexterity, visual recall, and the mental map that connects fingers to strings and frets. That makes time away from a physical guitar meaningful practice time: you are rehearsing the same finger order, string changes, and positional relationships you will use when you return to a real fretboard. Build the memory first, then let your hands recognize the scale when it is time to play.
